Burot Beach + Isla Puting-Buhangin

Last Saturday we went to Burot Beach, Calatagan , Batangas. We have been checking this beach through internet for months but we can’t decide as this is privately owned by SMDC.  However, a friend told me about her contact (Mang Ramon- (09156028907)) and we inquired. He said that the beach is still open to public until further notice.  With the blogs we read, the travel time for bus is 2-3 hrs. However, our experience is different! We left around 5:00 am from Pasay and arrived 9:45 am at Calatagan Public Market! Almost a 5-hr drive!

TIP: Bus and van rates are BSC liner – P193.00, Celyrosa – P160.00 and van P180.00. They all have terminal in Pasay. For buses: At the back of Mc Donalds (First trip 4:00 am). For vans: At the back of Kabayan Hotel.

As soon as we got there, we bought our baon and looked for a tricycle driver who took us to the beach!  Travel time is 15-20 mins.

TIP: Tricycle fares vary from 100-150 pesos. Also, ask the driver to pick you up.

Our plan is day-tour only so we asked the tricycle driver to pick us up at around 3:00pm as the last trip from Calatagan to Pasay is 5:00 pm. If you want to stay overnight, make sure you have a tent or you can rent a tent from Mang Ramon if you don’t have one. 🙂

Manabu Peak

This is my first climb for 2011 and the second mountain I climbed. Honestly, I was not that prepared (physically!). Again, I was not able to exercise and loose weight (not recommended, you have to be serious in shedding some pounds for trekking)! I was little worried that I might give up.  I remember my first climb (Mt. Batulao), I was gasping every 5 minutes (wahaha)! 🙂 Make sure you’re fit to enjoy it and do not forget safety first!

I was still excited and have my mind set in reaching the peak. This maybe one of the factors that helped me reached the summit and enjoyed the climb.

Mt. Manabu is located at Sto. Tomas, Batangas. The jump-off point is Sulok, Brgy. Sta Cruz, Sto. Tomas. It took us 2 hrs to reach the peak where the white cross is located. From the summit, you can see the beautiful views of Mt. Maculot and Mt. Makiling. We took pictures and decided to descend. We reached the grotto in 30-40 minutes where we ate our lunch.  (And took some pictures again :D). From the grotto to jump-off it took us 40 minutes.

7:30 Buendia to Lipa (Lucena or Lipa bound bus) (P120)

9:00 Trike to Sulok (P50 each)

9:30 Start trek

11:30 Summit

3:30 Jump-off

4:15 Trike to Lipa Bus Station (30 each)

5: 00 Lipa to Ortigas (Cubao bound bus) (P124)

I conquered Mt. Batulao!

Mt. Batulao

Walang exercise, medyo kulang sa tulog (excited nga!!!) masaya kaming naglakbay papuntang Batangas. Super energetic, I tried to sleep sa biyahe pero sa sobrang pagkaexcited hindi pa rin nagawa.

Around 8 am, nasa Evercrest Golf Course na kami. We started the trek at 8:30. Group of 4 (isang mountaineer at 3 baguhan). Mula sa fork to summit (old trail), it will take you 1.5-2 hours. Pero dahil puro picture (inatupag) at sadyang mabagal, (isama na rin yun pagkain ng lunch), we reached the summit at 12:15! haha! Medyo mahirap yung trek pataas (old trail). hehehe! (Siguro dahil na rin sa timbang at walang exercise.)

Wala ng mountain dew! Nililigpit na ni manong. 😦

Sobrang pagod man pagdating sa taas, makakalimutan mo yun dahil sa ganda ng view!!! Relaxing! Lalo na yung hangin na malamig kahit tanghaling tapat! At syempre, may mountain dew pa. pampatanggal uhaw!

Tumambay muna kami sa summit to take pictures and enjoy the scenery. At 1:00pm, we decided to go down. Dahil pababa na, medyo mabilis na kaming nakarating sa Evercrest. (4:00pm) 🙂 Kasama din dun yung pagtambay sa bukuhan at pag-idlip dun sa kubo dahil umulan. hihihi!

What I learned from this experience? I should never give up and magdala ng katinko para may pampahid sa tuhod pag sumakit! Kahit na napagod ako, kailangan ko talagang tapusin pra ma-reach ko yung peak. And of course, tinuruan din ako na magbawas ng pagkain at need mag exercise! hahaha! 😀
