Whitewater Rafting at Cagayan de Oro

A trip to Cagayan De Oro will not be complete if you do not try Whitewater Rafting.  Cagayan De Oro become famous as the Whitewater Rafting Capital of the country.

There are lots of whitewater rafting outfitters you can choose from and we went with KAGAY. Rafting course packages must be at least 6 persons in a group. Luckily, our contact arranged the trip for us and we were able to join another group of 2. And the rafting pushed through eventhough we were not able to complete the minimum requirement per group. A raft can sit a maximum of 10 people with two guides. If you can’t find a group, you can pay the remaining spots. 🙂

We met our guide in Jollibee, Divisoria at 7am, wearing our rafting attire (shirt with armguard and shorts)! We chose the Advance Course (P1000 / head) which will last for 4 hours and has 24 rapids. We also paid P300/CD for pictures.

Ready to go!

Our guide was giving us instructions on different on different paddle commands and safety procedure.

  1. European (Pyrenees, etc) whitewater rafting and kayaking is a different beast (as i’ve seen some videos and photos). But it’s a bit expensive when you do whitewater rafting and kayaking in Europe.

    Try Cagayan de Oro in the Philippines. It’s cheaper and the water is warmer.

    See sample video here;

  2. Whitewater rafting has been the ever-famous tourist activity of the tourists. I hope there will be more tourist activities that might attract also the tourist aside from this one. But nonetheless, Cagayan de Oro is still great! I love the city. Cheers!
