DIY Rustic, Quirky, Beach-Themed Wedding Invitation

So, I’m proud to share our DIY wedding invitation! After months or a year of doing drafts, checking for different designs, styles and materials. Here’s the one!

I forgot how many times that I changed my design. I remember the first one I made, the plane ticket but then I changed my mind and wanted a an airplane invitation, and the list goes on and on….

I also made a Would-You-Be Cards for my entourage but I wasn’t not able to print it because I focused on searching for invitation designs. :) When I started planning the wedding, I already knew that the invitation would be #1 in my DIY list. :D

Well, anyway! Here it is!

First Page. I used sinamay to bind the pages of the invitation.  And since we are having a beach themed wedding, I put seashells as a design.  At the back of the invitation, you can see the ref magnets as a part of the invitation. :) The first page pala is our love story and tagalog ang kwento! :)

In this photo, you can see the pages of the invitation. I used kraft paper and cream cardstock. :)

Here’s what you’ll see when you open the invitation box.

Tadaaaaa! Pwede ng ipamigay! I put our monogram sa front box and used abaca strings to bind the box! :)

Photographer:  She&Him Photography

HMUA: Berny Tia of Style Me Beautiful

Stylist: S of She&Him Photography

Venue: Alpadi Estate, Antipolo City

E-Session Photographer: Booked!

Yesterday, we went to We’re Engaged! Bridal Fair 2012 at PICC. Our aim was to check for photobooth suppliers and to visit Berny Tia of Style me Beautiful (my very talented, sweet and caring HMUA).  Anyway, we cannot find a photobooth supplier, di pasok sa budget namin ni Dennis.

While checking out other suppliers, we saw She&Him Photography‘s booth. Nung time na yun may tao sa booth nila so I told Dennis na si Sheena yung girl na nasa side.

Then, biglang sinabi ni Dennis, “Kilala natin sya e.”

Me, “Huh? Natin?”

Dennis, “Siya yung sa SPi”

Then, biglang nag-sink-in sakin yung sa VMV namin. :p Siya pala yun! :D ) So same company pala kami pero di ko alam diba?! Haha! Ako na talaga di matandain sa faces. :D

Anyway, kinausap namin saglit si Sheena then we told her na babalik kami. Nag-ikot-ikot muna kami, then nung bumalik kami, sobrang sure na ako na kunin sila for prenup. However, may konting problema dun since on a budget kami. Dennis was thinking na, wag na kami mag prenup photos dahil kasama naman sa video package namin with Aisle 1401 yung prenup. At dahil makulit ako at cute (kapal mukha) bumigay na si Dennis na magpabook kami for prenup! At marami pang dahilan: Una, magaganda yung shots ng She&Him. 3k only for prenup,  no OOT charges (except sa pamasahe or gas syempre), no time limit sa prenup! I like her na. :D

Medyo napatalon pa nga, kasi we have a prenup photo na! :D

Aside

In less than 7 months, I will walk down the aisle na!!! So ano ba nararamdaman ko ngayon?

Happy?! – Super!

Wedding Preparation Update!

HMUA: Berny Tia

This post is super late na. I had my trial HMU with Berny Tia last June 10, 2012. Super satisfied ako sa free trial HMU. Here are the reasons why I got her:

1. Ang linis nya pag make-up sakin. I noticed nung nag make-up sya sakin. She never uses her fingers sa pag touch ng skin ko. She uses brushes lagi. Unlike other make-up artist na gumagamit na fingers (na feeling ko unsanitized).

3. Feeling ko ang ganda ganda ko.  ;D

4. Gustong-gusto ni Dennis yung make-up sakin. Haha!

6. Super affordable!

Our Kwento (Love Story kuno)

Our kuwento:

Diana : We met 3 years ago at our workplace. Both of us our in different shifts, Dennis was in a long distance relationship (I never knew then) and I was single and not really looking for a relationship. November 2009 was our first conversation and he helped me on my work tasks.

Dennis: I thought she is beautiful & umm… laki ilong

On January 2010…

Diana:  I was online and he messaged me through Facebook

Dennis: I decided to get to know her when she went online, I messaged her.

On March 2010…

First gala naman is sa Borawan, b-day ni Diana nun, magkatabi kami at masayang Masaya ako nun.

Diana: At the time sobrang happy din ako and I know na fa-fall din ako

On May 2010…

Cagbalete, Quezon

Dennis: First kiss naming dun naganap, pero tama nga si Diana, naging magulo rin ako at the time…

Diana: Kasi napaka reserve nya. – in short sha ang umaarte samin dalawa

Then, after nun, lagi na kaming nagpaplan, dalawa. We were not together, pero sa mga lakad, sa Bohol, sa Zambales magkasama kami. Parang gumagawa kami reason to be together.

Moving forward to September 2010…

Cagbalete, Quezon (dalawa na lang kami bumalik)

Dennis:- nagtanong ako, its’ official, kami na! –, at sinagot nya ako (tagal noh? hehe)

Nagpatuloy ang kagawian namin… mag gala!

CDO-Bukidnon – October 2010 (rafting & ziplining)

Bird watching at Candaba – October 2010

Surfer’s break at la Union – November 2010

Trek at Batulao – November 2010

Trek at Manabu Peak – January 2011

Trek at Manalmon – January 2011

Hot Air Balloon Festivities at Clark, Pampanga – February 2011

Dipolog – Dapitan – Dakak – March 2011

La Union vacation again – April 2011

Nagsasa Cove, Zambales – June 2011

Sandbar Island beach at Iloilo – July 2011

Cebu- Dumaguete vacation – August 2011

Calaguas, Camarines Norte – September 2011

I decided to pop the ‘question’ on December 2011

Wedding Coordinator and Photographer: Booked!

Just updating.

Wedding Coordinator:  We actually booked a OTD coordinator last April. :) I chose Alpha Events Management because my GT sisses referred her. :D The feedback I read in the forum is good. Napanatag ang loob ko sa kanya.  Marj is nice and accommodating. She also gave me a good offer. :D And on April 14, on our first meeting, we booked her right away! I am an Alpha Events Bride na!

Photographer: Our first choice is Benjie Tiongco. However, when we were about to book him, his rates went 75% higher than the first time we inquired. Since the new rate is way over our budget, we decided to look for another photographer. Again, with the help of my GT sisses, I was able to find another one! Since Imagine Nation Photography has good feedback, we decided to check their site! Their shots are amazing! Of course, we have to choose pa sa kanila kung sino pipiliin namin. We both like Alex Ruelo’s style, but we decided to choose another pa baka kasi booked na si Alex sa date namin. Next in line namin is Jed and Madoka. :)

When we contacted Imagine Nation, we were so happy that Alex was still available on our date. We decided to make our downpayment na! And kahapon, I am officially an Imagine Nation Bride! Yey!

I am so happy! Unti-unti na namin nahahanap ang this-is-it suppliers namin!

Church: Paco Park Chapel (St. Pancratius Chapel)

My dream wedding was in a beach, around sunset with mountains at the background. I always love the beach and the mountains. However, this changed when my mom told me to have a church wedding. I see her point that our marriage should be blessed by the Church. I agreed and it really changes everything. I felt that getting married in church is what I really wanted. :))

Then, I knew instantly that I want an old church, small and dome. :) Thanks to the internet! It didn’t take me that long to find the right one! When I saw Paco Park Chapel, I can see myself na walking dun sa garden! ?Yay! ♥ I informed this to Dennis and he liked it too! And this is it! We found our church!

Paco Park was originally planned as a municipal cemetery for the well-off and established aristocratic Spanish families who resided in the old Manila, or the city within the walls of Intramuros during the Spanish colonial era. Most of the wealthy families interred the remains of their loved ones inside the municipal cemetery in what was once the district of Dilao (former name for Paco). The cemetery was built in the late 18th century but was completed several decades later and in 1822, the cemetery was used to inter victims of a cholera epidemic that swept across the city. The cemetery is circular in shape, with an inner circular fort that was the original cemetery and with the niches that were placed or located within the hollow walls. As the population continued to grow, a second outer wall was built with the thick adobe walls were hollowed as niches and the top of the walls were made into pathways for promenades. A Roman Catholic chapel was built inside the walls of the Paco Park and it was dedicated to St. Pancratius. (reference http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paco_Park)

Our first time to get to Paco Park office for a reservation was last February. Someone in the office informed us that the bookings for 2013 weddings were not yet open! We should go back after the Holy Week.

So last, April 10, Dennis went back to book our date ♥. :)

Wedding Ring Supplier Booked

Last March 10, we attended a Themes & Motifs’s Wedding Expo at SMX. Our goal was to look for a (this-is-it) photographer, HMUA, wedding coordinator and wedding ring. As soon as we entered the expo the search begun, however, we cannot find a photographer that suits our budget and usually may mga package na video ng kasama sila. Since we already have a videographer, we decided na di na namin itutuloy paghahanap sa bridal fair ng photographer.

We checked every booth until we end up in the wedding ring section. I was so excited to find our (this-is-it) wedding ring! We were actually looking at Golden Hills but we can’t seem to find the right design. Actually our plan is to buy the classic design.

Image

Classic Design: Our first choice

I really like this design pero nagdadalawang isip ako. So we continued the search for our wedding ring. Hanggang sa makarating kami sa dulo (At that time, I was actually thinking na, pacustomize na kami), and I noticed Matus Jewellery. We checked for the designs and ding! I found it! It is a matte finish white gold wedding ring. Too bad, I wasn’t able to take a photo, but I will upload a photo of it as soon as makakita ako ng copy. Hehe!
